After nearly two weeks of holidays, I went back to work today, as did Nick’s mother. Of course, that also means that Nick was off to daycare.

Surprisingly, he figured out pretty early this morning what was going on-and he didn’t want anything to do with it. He was clinging on to Mom and Dad, screaming anytime we left his sight. This didn’t make it any easier on us, since we had done little for the past three days besides talk about how wonderful it was to be around him all day long and how nice it would be if one of us could stay home with him. I have been really jealous of you SAHDs out there.

Of course, once I finally got him to daycare (notice that Dad has to drop him off on the tough days), he forgot all about me. After all, he has friends that he hasn’t seen for two weeks. No sooner were his boots off than he was running away to the Lego area to play. Dad was no longer on the radar. Sometimes, things have a way of working out all right.
